Udupi: Media Protest Mars Rahul Gandhi Interaction Meet

Udupi, Apr 20: As many as 4,000 youth had an opportunity to participate in the interaction programme held with the All India Congress Committee general secretary, MP and youth icon Rahul held at the Shamili Hall, Ambalpady Wednesday April 20. But the programme countered the protest from media persons as they were denied entry into the venue.
Though photography was allowed for press photographers, the time was limited for 15 minutes and soon they were asked to beat a retreat. The youth from all 16 blocks in the district attended the programme.
The interaction that began at 2.20pm, went on till 3.30 pm.
Speaking during the interactive meet, he said that the union government is committed to root out corruption and the passing of the RTI Act was an example of its earnest intentions.
He said that the Jan Lokpal Bill is the next step in this direction.
Hailing the RTI Act, he said that it had changed many lives ever since it was introduced a year ago. The common man has benefited from this Act, he said.
He also urged the youth to take up politics and try to bring in a change in the grass roots before aspiring higher.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G Parameshwar, opposition leader Siddaramaiah and Oscar Fernandes among other leaders were preent.
Rahul landed at Adi Udupi helipad at 2.10 pm.
Students participated in the interaction were not allowed to take mobile phones and their bags inside. A skirmish between party workers and media persons led the way for protest.
