Pune, Apr 21 (PTI) Veteran film maker Basu Chatterjee has linked production of better quality cinema with the literacy rate in the country.
Chatterjee who was honoured with the Raja Paranjpay (legendary Marathi film maker) award here last night, said, "We can see making of more better quality films once the literacy rate goes up in the country."
Known for portrayal of realism in life, Chatterjee also stressed on the film makers' sense of social responsibility adding that although film making had become a costly proposition, "good films will always find an audience."
"Cinema should add value to the society," he said.
