Mangaluru: Vincent Fernandes presents ‘Mogachi Lahran’, entertains music lovers

Mangaluru, Feb 6:‘Mogachi Lahran’, the 19th Konkani musical nite, by renowned singer and composer Vincent Fernandes commenced grandly at Cascia ground, here on Sunday, February 5.

The nite began with an invocation by the team.

The 10th volume of 'Mogachi Lahran' was also released by Daijiworld managing director Walter Nandalike and other dignitaries. Vincent Fernandes Cascia had previously released nine albums in Konkani and organized 18 musical nites across the globe.

Walter addressed the enlivened gathering, "Most of us have grown up listening to melodies by Melvin Peris and Claude D'Souza. This Konkani musical nite has been beautifully arranged for Konkani music enthusiasts. In 2008, I had released Vincent's album at Cascia Church. Today, after 9 long years I am here again to unveil his 10th music CD. I wish him great success in the future,"

"Vincent Fernandes is truly a multi-talented artiste. In his initial days, he lacked support. But due to his effort and love for Konkani music, he has been able to gain audience aplenty and great support from the Konkani enthusiasts. Cascia has given abundant talent to the society. Vincent Fernandes is one of them. He has inspired many youngsters towards Konkani music." Walter added.

Businessman Elias Sanctis said, "Vincent has immensely contributed toward Konkani music, and his love for Konkani music is phenomenal. He has drastically progressed in this field and today released the 10th volume of his music CD. He has achieved success because of all his struggle. We extend our strongest support to Vincent to grow in full measure."

Cascia Church Parish Priest Fr Herald Mascarenhas said, "We feel privileged to host Vincent Nite at Cascia. Due to God's blessing and people's support he has succeeded in his music career. He has also inspired youth to come up in the field".

MLA J R Lobo congratulated Vincent Fernandes for the CD release and added, "It is not an easy job to hold this musical nite. But Vincent has put in all the hard work to conduct it. Vincent Fernandes has taken the initiative to promote Konkani language and culture. I have witnessed several of his programmes. Vincent Nite promotes Konkani language and culture. Such efforts are commendable.

"It is good to see Konkani enthusiasts thronging to witness these programmes. Support from the audience is crucial for artistes to move ahead. From dance to singing and acting, music to events, Mogachi Lahran finds new meaning to entertain. With its inception in the year 2000 Mogachi Lahran puts new talents from the Mangalurean community through personalized fostering and right exposure to young talents in the field of music, singing and dance."

On occasion, St Rita Band members Richard D'Souza, Gopal, Vijay Kumar and Dinesh Kumar, were honoured. St Rita Band has completed 110 years and was first started by Felix D'Souza who served in it for 45 years.

The Konkani musical nite witnessed the singing from artistes Vincent Mathais Cascia, Jerry D’Souza Bajjodi, Nihal Tauro, Denver Pinto, Jasmine D'souza, Preema Rodrigues, Bryan Fernandes and Dorothy D'Souza.

The nite also included singing performances from Konkani veteran singers Konkan Kalashri Claude D’souza and Yodeling King Melwyn Peris.

Lavita Menezes welcomed the gathering. Floyd D'Mello compered.
