Mangaluru, Sep 1: Muslims congregated at famous Idgah Maidan on Light House Hill in city and also at other mosques and celebrated Eid-ul-Azha (Bakrid) with gaiety, devotion and in a spirit of loyalty on Friday, September 1.

Soon after the Namaz, people were seen exchanging the festival greetings, ‘Eid Mubarak’, by embracing one another and shaking hands. Muslim brethren visit each other's homes during the day, to exchange pleasantries and to show their mutual affection and share happiness.

The main purpose of Bakrid is reiteration of devotion to the divine rule.

The festival is a commemoration of Prophet Abraham's unflinching faith and devotion to Allah's commandments, Muslims are expected to show the same spirit when they celebrate Bakrid.
