Panaji: Primary school value edu books to have chapters on Kalam, Lincoln

Panaji, Oct 17 (TOI): The state government has already printed the new textbooks on value education, which will be introduced from Classes I to IV after the Diwali vacation.

The textbook content has been prepared by the state educational research and training (SCERT) and the books have been printed through an agency in Pune.

In April, chief minister and education minister Manohar Parrikar had announced for the first time plans to introduce value education, personal hygiene, traffic management and garbage management as subjects in schools. Parrikar felt that lack of discipline in segragating garbage and the lack of traffic sense came from the failure to impress among the importance of these issues on young minds through school education.

The value education textbooks now to be introduced as part of Parrikar's plan touches on all the subjects he had cited.
