The sound of birds that chirp all day
with the break of dawn, where on my bed I lay
I sense the freedom enjoyed by everything living
Oh! how I wish I were that fortunate.
How I wish I din't feel this way
I'm trapped...
I traverse the cobbled road; the cool breeze in my hair...
the visages passing me by, all too oblivious of my despair
they realize not the pain I endure
my shortcomings make them cringe with repulsion.
How I wish they didn't feel this way
I'm trapped...
Why me..I ask..and not all too kindly
to the Higher Being above, considered the Almighty
that every critter, every reptile, everything that moves...
revels in its beauty, no qualms about its exterior.
How I wish I too felt that way
Alas,
I'm trapped...
My face marred, my senses altered
My sores give off an awful odour
My feet like stumps of an axed out bark
My hands now useless, I only befriend the dark.
Because,
I'm trapped...
My soul cries out in anguish,
My heart bleeds with pain
If only you could see the person I am
behind the cracks, the sores and stain-
I am a beautiful being, I believe God intended it so...
I'm just trapped...
In this horrendous body; making people turn their gaze
My disfigurement is a curse I try to live with
but there's a tiny ray of hope I chase
I'm told in Heaven only souls do enter
I'd be leaving this carcass behind forever.
This brings an elation to my heart; a joy of a kind untold.
I now just await my end...
For till then,
I'm trapped.
