Education is not merely an attainment of intellectual life but also the ability to foster relationships. Coeducation is an important element in education sector. It helps the young minds to motivate themselves and to straighten their paths.
Why is coeducation so important? It is important, because every human being is an adventurer. He/she tries to see new things in the world and in life. It helps one to learn through healthy interaction.
If one is denied the opportunity to study in a coeducational institution, in the early stages, as the years pass on one may develop an unhealthy understanding of the opposite sex. For instance, in my coeducation in the school days, I experienced a lot of freedom and growth. I had many friends, both boys and girls. These were my closest friends, who stood by me in all my difficulties. This was a healthy relationship, which motivated me personally. On the contrary, after my schooling I joined a boys' pre-university college (PUC). I developed friendship with boys of different backgrounds. I had friends who underwent coeducation as well as those who did not. Here I observed in my fellow companions who did not have coeducation speak negatively about girls. Moreover, they were trying to seek pleasure through their description of girls. In fact, it is a human tendency.
On the other hand, those who had studied in coeducation had a positive attitude and respect towards girls. At that moment, I wondered, what could be the reason behind this?
Advantages of Coeducation
In this competitive and advanced world, coeducation is an opportunity to prepare oneself through mutual confrontation. It enables the person to grow in all aspects of life. It enhances an atmosphere of family bond, sisterly and brotherly love. Moreover, it creates a healthy relationship between the persons. I believe, through knowing facts, we broaden our horizon. In fact, through coeducation persons become mature in their life and in their choices too.
Disadvantages
There is a possibility that persons get attracted towards each other and fantasize about sexual relationship. As human beings these thoughts are natural. Nowadays, children are exposed to post-modern culture especially through media. It may affect children in their relationships and cause havoc.
These are all psychologically connected. However, we need to use our common sense with an agile thinking to tackle the problems. For this, self-formation and motivation play a vital role in one’s life.
In fact, we are all exposed to all these advantages and disadvantages. I worry about today’s youth whose future is disoriented, due to lack of proper education. Relationships play an important role in everyone’s life. Due to lack of relationship rape, murder, abuse, flesh trade, divorces etc are on the increase. Perhaps, those who are educated without proper exposure to coeducation do these things. What a pathetic situation. What is our reaction to all these things? Are we blind to the things happening around us? We all need to rise from our slumber in order to combat these evil deeds.
Finally, I would like to open your hearts and minds with the following lines.
"We all like to see things rather than do things".
"We all like to listen to things rather than say anything".
"We all don’t like to tackle others' dilemma until it becomes our own".
"We all don’t like relationships unless they help us".
Relationship is the primary source for a better life. Therefore, I believe coeducation is the backbone to a better living.
