The Answer My Friends...

The Answer My Friends...

Imagine John Lennon and you were walking hand in hand
Whispering words of wisdom while you travelled every land
Now you may say that I’m a dreamer, Bob Dylan is one too
And the answer as he said my friends you shouldn’t misconstrue

Though it’s blowing in the winds, you can see it in the sky
While the cannon balls still fly and we stop to question why
Simon & Garfunkel, I wonder where you’ve gone
Like the bridge on troubled waters to your lyrics we are drawn

Heaven holds a place you said for everyone who prays
It’s not too late to heed that call and mend our selfish ways
I do believe we have a choice – a choice to save our own
Like Bob Gedolf and others who laid the stepping stone

Let's lend a hand and save what is the greatest gift of all
Like Peter, Paul and Mary let’s hammer out our call
While we hammer peace and justice over each and every land
Like Ebony and ivory I wish we’d understand

That people are the same no matter where we go
Like keynotes on a baby Grand we really ought to know
Now Paul and Stevie sang their song in perfect harmony
Side By Side like keyboard notes, O Brothers, wonder why don’t we?

And though it’s just another day for Phil and you and me
To be with her in paradise until eternity
Right now I’ll look the other side when she calls out in vain
Proving in a way that I am no different from Cain.

Anita,it’s great piece and truly meant for these troubled times.
The Beatles and others mentioned had great imagination and have attained immortality.
Today values have eroded and it seems like Kali Yuga indeed. In the last 50 years or so developments have been immense, but at an irreparable loss to environment, values and principles.
In his quests man has gone far beyond the limit and stored possessions not only for himself, but for his entire family and in some cases even for generations to come.

Nature has been over exploited in the name of development. The excessive use of fossils fuels and the speed at which newer gadgets are being discovered without any thought for the harmful side effects both to nature and also health of humankind is galling. But man is not prepared to either sacrifice or adopt a holistic approach which will save the Earth for the generation to come. Man boasts of several great discoveries like Bio Chips (verichip) Mondex Smart Cards and at CERN is on the brink of The God’s particle !
Man is also capable of living in other planets but with all his discoveries is yet to find out how to live at peace with his neighbour. After all without WAR how can he rid himself of the arsenal and the nuclear possessions and secrets in his backyard!
A saying goes that there is enough here for everyman’s need, but not enough for ‘ A man’s greed’.
Yes Anita the answer seems to be blowing in the wind !

Dear Anita, thank you so much for this wonderful poem. You are very talented and I am sure you make lot of readers happy by your poem.

Yes one shall imagine to walk with John Lennon on one of the beautiful beaches in Goa. But we can only imagine that as John Lennon was murdered a long time ago.
I remember the time (I was 15 years old) when the Beatles went to Goa/India. Their songs “All you need is love, or Yesterday” influenced a whole young generation. The Second World War was more than 20years over when the Beatles or the Rolling started their career and began to change perceptions and values by their music.

While I am writing my comment on your poem I am struck by one sentence “We need love not war”,
This sentence had a great impact on me. It is love, dignity, joy, happiness, respect and tolerance what we need as human beings but never war.

I remember the war in Vietnam, the big demonstrations against that war and beside the great and immortal songs of the Beatles.

Or the great Bob Dylon “Though it’s blowing in the winds, you can see it in the sky” a song that made and make human beings dreamy.

Bob Dylon and John Lennon gave us with their songs the certainty that we will always have dreams.

You are right Anita I too believe we have a choice – a choice to save our own.

Like Bob Gedolf and others who laid the stepping stone and they believe all human beings are equal and should have the same opportunities in life even in Africa.

With a meaning of life and dreams human beings are rich and for million of people GANDHI is a source of hope.

Yes Anita, life is rich and full of dreams but we never shall forget the needy and poor.

    Best regards

In my times of trouble Mother Mary comes to me and whispers words of wisdom "Let it be".
    Superb song by John Lennon.
I still play this song when I feel depressed and lonely.
