(Teacher's Day)
At an early stage in life if a child looks up to someone apart from his/her parents, it is the Teacher. Most of the countries in the world celebrate Teacher’s Day with enthusiasm and zeal, understanding the fact that a Teacher has the utmost importance in every individual’s life.
In India, Teacher’s Day is celebrated on September 5, which is the birthday of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was the second President of India, an academic philosopher and a scholar. On this day of celebration Teachers are felicitated and appreciated for their dedication and selfless work.
India celebrates Teacher’s Day twice a year, another day set aside for commemorating teachers is on the day of ‘Guru Poornima’ which falls during the mid of July.
As per Indian mythology teachers are treated close to god and should be worshiped as they nurture a human being with knowledge and wisdom, but today’s generation finds this notion to be absurd.
A recent incident can be noted here, which took place last month at Bangalore. A 53-year-old headmaster of DGMP School at R T Nagar took the extreme step of ending his life unable to handle the ill behaved students.
On the other hand, there are times when we hear about sexual abuses and punishments by the teachers that have pushed the students to end their lives. In this era, the relationship between a student and a teacher has been brutalized, but still we motivate and cherish this day in the same manner with the hope that this bond would sustain forever.
Generally in schools and colleges on Teacher's Day, various cultural programmes and activities are held; senior students take up roles as teachers to experience and realize the amount of work and devotion a teacher endures.
People call up their childhood teachers and let them know that they are still remembered, giving them immense happiness and appreciation.
Here's something for all my teachers:
T - Talent is that you mend
E - Education is that you implement
A - Attitude is that you build
C - Character is that you cultivate
H - Harmony is that you share
E - Efficiency is that you bear
R - Relationship is your way
Happy Teacher's Day!
