The other day I had to visit Mysuru and asked a friend of mine to book me a room. He was prompt to do so and sent me the details of the hotel. Out of curiosity I searched the web to locate the hotel and get some basic information. On the web it appeared to be the ideal place for a day's stay - well furnished - spaciously ventilated - pleasingly painted - neatly done up.
At the appointed time I was there just to notice to my great surprise the staff in-charge were sleeping on the floor at the entrance to the reception. Surely objects in the mirror...When I was shown the room what a disappointment it was. Such a lousy room; never did I encounter such a one so far and never intend to do so.
Very often we are told by our friends: Why don’t you visit us? Indeed a pleasure to visit our friends and socialize, but how to reach there? "It's simple” he says. Take this particular bus and ask for such and such a stop. As you get down enquire with anyone for me and you are there. So simple you know. You get into the exact bus and buy a ticket for the exact stop but the agony starts once you get down. Ask the nearby gentleman for your friend. "Oh! you mean Mr X, his house is just 10 meters away". You walk those 10 meters and ask for your friend. Someone clarifies whether it is Mr AX or BX. You clarify and you are told it's some 5 meters further away. Suppose you are lucky your journey would stop there or it may continue for another 20 meters. Objects in the mirror....
What appears to be clear at a distance is all confusion as you go near. Things do not look the same at close counter. Not only things, even people do not appear to be the same. The love and concern shown when not necessary, do not show themselves when required. Objects in the mirror….
