‘Good Bye Daddy’
Drop by drop the drug flows,
A ray of hope slowly grows,
Care of men, power of drugs,
Hope to add more of breaths.
Sitting near your hospital bed,
Watching your eyes, starting to slide,
A million thoughts in my mind,
Begging life to change from harsh to kind.
While you were fighting for another breath,
Our endless bargain failed against death.
Graphs turned flat, numbers came to halt,
as your life was rushing out fast.
Death was closer with mighty power,
Experts gathered helplessly near,
Loved ones stood around in fear,
Next moment body was present, Daddy you weren’t there.
River of tears poured out of our eyes,
Numbing every pleasure of senses,
Breaking the silence, peaked our cries,
Truth of life unfolds when a dear one dies.
Dry lands might get wet,
Dead seeds might start to sprout,
Even if land and sky meet,
A stopped heart will never again beat.
Years of life gone in a moment,
Leaving behind memories that torment,
Rain of sorrow drowns me in pain,
I never wish to be a human again.
A sparkling star dissolved in air,
Source of treasure, your words of wisdom,
Flowers of fragrance, your acts of kindness,
‘Good Bye Daddy’, from my soundless thoughts.
Flowers on the gravestone quickly dry up,
But the tears of sadness seem to never give up.
Daddy, while you enjoy a peaceful sunset,
We struggle each day, with a difficult sunrise.
Life, a quickly passing, temporary feeling.
Death, a tragic end to a life smiling.
My words of grief searching for relief,
Resting in the poem, started to weep.
