Corona - We will Defeat you
Times are tough, times are rough, times are very bleak
A spiky club-shaped virus has rendered humans weak
Mighty nations crumbled while coronavirus spread
This killer didn’t discriminate – leaving many dead
It isn’t a tsunami or a raging hurricane
But a microscopic enemy that’s trying its best to reign
Taken by surprise by this crown shaped bulbous foe
Who rushed to make its presence felt among the rich and poor
Life brought to a grinding halt – shops and factories closed
The sound of cough just petrifies and makes one feel exposed
Shopping malls deserted, cities are ghost towns
Coffin makers busy – countries on lockdowns
Markets crash while share prices are hitting record low
Our narcissistic ego has taken quite a blow
Man’s arrogance unchecked we thought that death was obsolete
We even bragged we would kill death – so much for our conceit
We put 12 men up on the moon in our cosmic quest
The Masters of the Universe - we thought we were the best
We’ve mapped the human genome and even cloned a sheep
In every realm of science we made a giant quantum leap
Our fatal flaw was hubris – little did we know
That a tiny deadly virus could strike a lethal blow
Sucker punched, we figured we had to turn to God
Invincible we thought we were but we are deeply flawed
Panic buying rampant with a crisis looming large
Time to place our trust in God and health workers in charge
Our hands folded in prayer again we’re going to beat this creep
With lathered hands we’ll isolate and get back at this sneak
The health teams working round the clock are doing their very best
We must take all precautions so they don’t get over stressed
Scientists all around the world scrambling hard to find
An answer to this pandemic and reassure mankind
Our race against the virus is a war that man will win
It's a struggle but we will endure – We’re tough and won’t give in
Corona – we’ll defeat you – you will be history soon
We’ll fight you with a vengeance – and make ourselves immune
We are a global world and united we can stand
Together we can make it if we lend a helping hand
We spend a whopping billion on wars that make no sense
And should spend more on healthcare rather than defence
While we hold our palm-sized gadgets from dusk until nightfall
Covid - 19 taught us that we need God most of all
Confused, confined and helpless – We do not have a clue
It isn’t long before we see Corona’s Waterloo
