Covid 19: Digital-Observation

May 21, 2020

Why am I today under lockdown, not allowed to go out? Each of us is in the same situation; almost every person is questioning the same. Thanks to God, we are digitally connected through the world though it is under lockdown, we are in a pandemic and almost two-months of social distance has put us in a spot of life. Humankind has realized money is not everything and the power of military force is almost nil in-front of biological issues, who is responsible? Media and speculations try to blame the live market of China being responsible; it was there for several years, it is not new. The world initially took things lightly; since the death rate is very much numbered with any kind of flu.

Things got worse when a pandemic by WHO was. Humankind recalled the situation of the Spanish flu in the last century with a toll of almost five million people and a death every day in every other house.

Today, by the grace of God we are digitally connected, though there is the social distance in force, humankind learned from age-old times how to survive with the natural resources, maintaining hygiene and queuing up for everything, reminding us life is about discipline and leans more towards humanity. We learn to move forward. The sun rises and sets in its own time, nature is very much with its routine; today we are digitally connected with and under lockdown situation globally. Being at the pinnacle, having everything at our fingertips, the world was too fast, that no one cared about nature, damaged and utilized every opportunity for our benefits. Mankind has to realize there is nothing above God's wish. We have accomplished almost everything as of today in this materialistic world, except the vaccine for the ongoing
pandemic.

In India, I have observed local organizations are very much active to support the needy people while some individuals are busy spreading hatred messages than those in need, taking advantage of the situation. They circulating all sorts of nonsense on social media. Their upbringing is nil due to the digital world of fake and false news. Social media has to take responsibility not to spread such kind of news, which is more dangerous than the COVID-19. Religion issues, that too during this time is not encouraging and not supporting of humankind, where more and more people are opting for peace, patience, empathy, and tolerance. I have been living in the UAE for 26 years and have never felt discrimination. I love this country which practices humanity is above everything.

One has to experience the kind of gesture given by the UAE Government, His Highness has recently said that “we are one family no one is a foreigner” in this country; it is so soothing and making us more comfortable; though we are temporally residing with commercially bonding in; We have to respect the law and enforcement of the country where we live in; recent some of the mean people expressed their hatred towards the religion without knowing the fact, in my experience I never felt any kind of discrimination in this part of the world, in UAE the Government is so helpful at any situation, even the middle of the night they are at the doorstep to support with one call, humanity is first in this country; religion is next, also made several field hospitals and testing every day to walk-in and emergency patients made realistic numbers of VIRUS carrying body; Asymptotic is more dangerous than the actual patient, it’s time to get tested to know the fact and control the pandemic.

There are several blames for the pandemic in India, in reality, every religion has right to practice and perform the prayers; when the lockdown announced everyone is forced to stay where they are; could not call off particular congregation and blame for the ongoing issues, even after lockdown there were several places gathering happened and the media is mum about the same. In this digital era, it is very easy to circulate and convey the good or bad messages within no time, were just forwarding without realizing facts.

There is serious correction required to curb the social media activities; limiting forwards is not a solution, where the sender can pick up again from the forward and carry on. WhatsApp should be made payable for every message sent and then we can minimize false circulation. Today, though we are under lockdown, we can still connect officially as well as through personal communication. Digitally, through several digital platforms, we can perform many tasks.

What I have learnt from this situation is, there is a fall after every rise, there is a limit for everything; nature supports us best. Let us not spoil the same in the future.

As of today, all around the world, asymptomatic COVID is more dangerous than the severely affected. It is time to wear the mask for personal safety and not spread it to others. We must individually get ourselves tested for the benefit of others.

Digitally we are far more advanced. If we fail to maintain distance, our droplets from the respiration will spread the virus. The level of hygiene is raised. We must not touch any surface. The digital world helps us to take thermal temperature in one shot. The question is whether temperature testing will help? No. As I mentioned above, it is time to wear masks and avoid spreading the virus to others while we are allowed to carry out our commercial and personal activities.

The digital world is assuring and sets a standard for health. Also, commercially everything is possible through digital transactions; overall, our digital world supports us by allowing us to remain indoors while we earn our daily bread. So, STAY HOME STAY SAFE SAVE LIVES.

Well written article Mr Alva. The line of thinking is very apt to the present situation. Even when there is lockdown the people could enjoy the nearness being far and gather the information of our near and dear ones only because of digitally getting connected. Through this, we could share our sympathy and empathy with others.
Digital world also can create a more dangerous virus than Covid 19, i.e., Hatred. At this situation heartless people try to point out at a particular religion as carriers of virus, how pathetic it is. All of us know only human beings embrace religion not for existence but for identity. In India it is mixed up with politics. We cant become inhuman at this point of time blaming someone for this pandemic. This pandemic is global. WE need to fight against it. Every individual has a responsibility in fighting the pandemic. If the medical scientists are burning the mid-night oil, common people will have to take care of themselves by protecting themselves and others from this virus.
Congratulations Mr Alva for a beautiful article.
