Someone has amplified the word Beatitude as Beautiful attitudes. These are the happy attitudes of the heart and the mind of a happy person. Jesus’ Beatitudes are the Magna Carta of the New Testament. Several people have drawn inspiration to make their own life-style and also have given some contemporary version of the same. This collection is a reminder of such a type: Beatitudes anytime -anywhere – to anyone in several versions.



Beatitudes for a global pandemic

Blessed are those who stay indoors for they have protected others.

Blessed are the unemployed and the self-employed, for their need of God is great.

Blessed are the corner shopkeepers, for they are the purveyors of scarce things.

Blessed are the delivery drivers and the postal workers, for they are the bringers of essential things.

Blessed are the hospital workers; the ambulance crews, the doctors, the nurses, the care assistants, and the cleaners, for they stand between us and the grave, and the Kingdom of Heaven is surely theirs.

Blessed are the checkout workers, for they have patience and fortitude in the face of overwork and frustration.

Blessed are the refuse collectors, for they will see God despite the mountains of waste.

Blessed are the teachers, for they remain steadfast and constant in disturbing times.

Blessed are the church workers; the deacons, priests and bishops, for they are a comforting presence in a hurting world as they continue to signpost towards God.

Blessed are the single parents, for they are coping alone with their responsibilities and there is no respite.

Blessed are those who are alone, for they are children of God and with Him they will never be lonely.

Blessed are the bereaved, for whom the worst has already happened. They shall be comforted.

Blessed are those who are isolated with their abusers, for one day – we pray - they will know safety.

Blessed are all during this time who have pure hearts; all who still hunger and thirst for justice; all who work for peace and who model mercy. May you know comfort. May you know calm.

Beatitudes parents

Blessed are those parents who make their peace with spilled milk and with mud, for of such is the kingdom of childhood.

Blessed is the parent who engages not in the comparison of his child with others, for precious unto each is the rhythm of his own growth.

Blessed are the fathers and mothers who have learned laughter, for it is the music of the child’s world.

Blessed and wise are those parents who understand the goodness of time, for they make it not a sword that kills growth but a shield to protect.

Blessed and mature are they who without anger can say "no", for comforting to the child is the security of firm decisions.

Blessed is the gift of consistency, for it is heart’s-ease in childhood.

Blessed are they who accept the awkwardness of growth, for they are aware of the choice between marred furnishings and damaged personalities.

The Eight Beatitudes of the Politician

1. Blessed be the politician who has a high knowledge and a deep consciousness of his role.

2. Blessed be the politician who personally exemplifies credibility.

3. Blessed be the politician who works for the common good and not his own sake or interest.

4. Blessed be the politician who remains coherent: true to himself, to his faith and to his electoral promises.

5. Blessed be the politician who works for unity and, making Jesus the fulcrum of unity, thus defends it.

6. Blessed be the politician who works for the realization of a radical change: by fighting against intellectual perversion, by refusing to call good that which is evil, by not confining religion to the private sphere, by establishing the priorities of one's own choices on the basis of faith.

7. Blessed be the politician who is able to listen. Who listens to the people before, during and after the elections; who listens to his conscience; and who listens to God in prayer.

8. Blessed be the politician who has no fear of the truth nor of the mass media, because at the time of judgment he will answer only to God, not to the media!


The Beatitudes and Social Media

At the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus commends eight beautiful qualities. But what do the Beatitudes mean for social media and life online?

> Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven I will remember that my identity comes from being made and loved by God, not from my online profile.

> Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. This world is full of grief and suffering. I will tread softly and post with gentleness and compassion.

> Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth I will not boast or brag online, nor will I pull others down.

> Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. There are many wrongs to be righted. I will not be afraid to name them and look for justice in the world.

> Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy I will not judge others but be generous online. I will be conscious of my own failings.

> Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. I will be truthful and honest, and I will not pretend to be what I am not.

> Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. I will seek to reconcile those of different views with imagination and good humour.

> Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven I will not add to the store of hate in the world, but I will try to be courageous in standing up for what is right and true.

Blessed are those who know how to relax without looking for excuses; they are on the way to becoming wise.

Blessed are those who know when to be quiet and listen; they will learn a lot of new things.

Blessed are those who are sane enough not to take themselves too seriously; they will be valued by those around them.

Happy are those who can take small things seriously, and take serious things calmly; they will go far in life.

Happy are those who can be kind in understanding the attitudes of others; they may be taken for fools, but that is the price of charity.

Happy are those that can appreciate a smile, and forget a frown; they will walk in the sunshine.

Blessed are they who think before acting, and pray before thinking; they will avoid many blunders.

Blessed are they who recognize the Spirit in all whom they meet; the light of truth will shine in their lives.

Alternate Versions

And for those interested in one of these alternate versions of the Beatitudes, here is one version:

Blessed is the wealthy, for they already own the kingdom of earth.

Blessed are those to protest mourners, for they will garner news headlines and get lots of attention.

Blessed are the whiners, for they will annoy many.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for power, for they will destroy people in their way to be filled.

Blessed are the egotistical, for they will be unable to see anything outside of themselves.

Blessed are the narcissistic, for they will believe they are God.

Blessed are the warmongers, for they will be called patriots.

Blessed are the prosecutors of micro-agressions, for theirs is a life of constant victimhood.

Blessed are you when people follow you and repost/retweet you and utter all kinds of things about what you post on social media. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in social media and 15 minutes of fame, for in the same way, the crowd reposted and retweeted the celebrities who were before you.

A Modern Version of The Beatitudes

Blessed are the poor...not the penniless but whose heart is free.

Blessed are those who mourn...not those who whimper but those who raise their voices.

Blessed are the meek...not the soft but those who are patient and tolerant.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for justice...not those who whine

but those who struggle.

Blessed are the merciful...not those who forget but those who forgive.

Blessed are the pure in heart...not those who act like angels but those whose life is transparent.

Blessed are the peacemakers...not those who shun conflict but those who face it squarely.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for justice...not because they suffer but because they love.

Blessed are the least advantaged, For theirs is the kingdom of Rawls.

Blessed are those with pre-existing conditions, For they shall not be refused.

Blessed are the meek, For they have inherited the West.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for correctness, For they shall govern speech.

Another Version of the Beatitudes

When Jesus was a grown-up, he traveled to many towns teaching people about God. One day he sat on a high hill, so that the large crowd could hear and see him better. The things he said that day are called, ‘The Sermon on the Mount’. One part of this we call the ‘Beatitudes’. Jesus used some big words, but here’s an idea of what he taught the people:

Blessed are those who know they need God.

Blessed are those who feel sad; God will help them to feel happy again.

Blessed are those who are humble and do not brag or put others down.

Blessed are those who want to do as God would want them to do.

Blessed are those who forgive.

Blessed are those who try to do what is fair and act peacefully.

Blessed are those who are treated badly because they believe in Jesus; God will take care of them.

    Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy. Mercy is the perfection of love, the most dear of my attributes. Those who imitate me will become like me. To those who forgive and give I will forgive gladly and give eternal riches.

    Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. A very special place is prepared for the souls of those who seek to be perfect, who seek sanctity in order to please me. They will not only enjoy the beatific vision but their divine privileges will be far greater that anyone can imagine.

    Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Nothing pleases me more than peace. Those who strive to bring peace to others are bringing my presence to their lives. They enjoy the fruits of the reconciliation between God and men, they will enjoy especial graces in Heaven for having spread my Kingdom of Peace.

    Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Anyone who suffers on my account, will be consoled by my infinite joy, those who suffer and shed their blood for my sake become very much like me, the spotless sacrificial lamb.

    "I gathered a large multitude and then I began to proclaim the happiness of my Kingdom. Despite the sufferings involved in living a life seeking God, despite the weakness of human nature, despite the obstacles to happiness, I came to bring hope to all those who suffer and to reassure them of my rewards.

    Blessed are the poor in spirit, the kingdom of heaven is theirs. What they lack in human wisdom, they make up with their humble state, what they don’t receive from others, I am willing to give to them, happiness and joy.

    Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. The miseries of life bring tears to everyone, but every tear will be wiped out and no suffering will exist in my kingdom, eternal bliss awaits those who follow me.

    Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. The riches of the world have perverted many hearts; the poor have been deprived of their share. Those who lack things in this life will have by contrast abundant celestial riches, and they will never be in need again. Happiness will be their lot.

    Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. I came to give hope to those afflicted by injustice and, I am the Supreme Judge, I have heard their case and my verdict will make their hearts rejoice forever.
