I CAN has Power to Change YOU

November 22, 2021

‘I CAN’ these two words are so powerful in our life that when we allow ourselves to believe in what we can do by following and acting on it, we can achieve anything. Contrary to this if we brood about what we have to achieve we end up only dreaming. But the successful lot takes cognizance that nothing gets accomplished by dreaming and they push themselves to achieve with the power of ‘I CAN’.

To harness the power of ‘I CAN’ we can trod on the following steps:

1. Believe in you that YOU CAN:

Identify your life’s purpose by answering the following questions:

(a) What were the memorable experiences of your early life?
(b) Who is your role model and why?
(c) What are your core values and beliefs?
(d) What makes you concerned and are you empowered to support those concerns?
(e) What are the goals that you have set for self?
(h) What is your personal mission statement?

When you have answered the above questions you will get an answer for the “why” of your life. German philosopher Frederick Nietzsche once said, “He who has a why can endure any how.” Your why is the thing that motivates you to get up every morning and work a little harder to get a little better. Motivation to win is not enough, what is required is the mindset to keep pushing through and drive to achieve along the way. When you come to know what is success to you and what you are passionate about, the dream and vision you’ve created for yourself is up to you to plan and achieve. You have to believe in yourself first.

2. ‘YOU CAN’ do anything

Rather than actions, endless planning cycles put dreams under wraps. Thomas Edison said, “Genius is 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration.” Any action towards your dream has to create a wave of change; the more you take action, stronger the waves.

Everyday people are improving their lives. It is simply a matter of a decision being made. By following these very simple actions it can be you!:

1. Commit to working on yourself.
2. Make a plan.
3. Begin to act.

3. Stay in the ‘I CAN’ zone:

Staying in the zone of focus takes determination, resilience and a yearning belief that what you are doing means something and is aligning to the life’s purpose. It’s about doing the work, taking the right action
and making the right decision to move towards your goals.
Focus is not a natural trait and is a skill that must be learnt, refined and practiced. The following process can be followed to acquire it as a skill:
1. Become aware of the need to improve your focusing skills.
2. Make a conscious decision to invest the time and energy needed to improve.
3. Practice and train your mind to concentrate.
4. Implement your focusing skills and let them be yours

4. Owning - YOU CAN

Things may not go according to your plan but you need to own the highs and the lows, the results and the failures. Own the opportunity to continuously learn and grow. Own your success. Paulo Coelho says, “Whenever you want to achieve something, keep your eyes open, concentrate and make sure you know exactly what it is you want. No one can hit their target with their eyes closed.” what matters during failures is how you face these challenges. Do you face them head on, learn from them and move forward, or do you get knocked down and stay there always thinking what went wrong.

5. Surround yourself with people who think - YOU CAN

Be amidst and stay connected with others who are aligned and supportive of your dreams—those who are willing to mentor and criticize constructively to make your dreams come true. Choose the right support group and mentors because no great plans materialize without a great team.

Choose your mentors or your support team based on these guidelines:

(a) Drop any mentors who don’t motivate
(b) Be selective and choosy
(c) Should listen to results and not vague ambitions
(d) Should be one whom you can ask and ask again
(e) One who puts you on right path
(f) Is accountable as your partner
(g) Takes greater responsibility
(h) Asks you to pass it on what you have gained

Lastly. Don’t be shy to exhibit brilliance. It’s up to you to make the impossible possible. It’s up to you to realize the future you want. It’s up to you to decide to take action by believing that ‘I CAN’.
