The Beatles are Forever

John, Paul, Ringo, George – took the world by storm
Their songs are heard in every place – nightclub, park or dorm
The quarrymen from Liverpool didn’t play by the rule
Eight days a week… they were just supercool

Across the universe they chanted love is all you need
The Paperback writer from the Daily Mail agreed
Let’s take the long and winding road when I’m sixty- four
While my guitar gently weeps just like the night before

You may say I’m a dreamer while we’re dancing in the dark
To Strawberry fields forever perhaps in central park
Imagine all the people who walked down Abbey road
A long way from Cavern Club the champagne did explode

In spite of all the danger the Catcher in the Rye
Said Help I need somebody please don’t ask me why
Here Today and Yesterday we used to twist and shout
We feasted on our scrambled eggs saying we can work it out

Pass the salt and pepper and let’s inspire Paul
To write some soulful lyrics for one more curtain call
He might say Sunday morning has come creeping like a nun
Unless Lady Madonna says Hello Goodbye I’m done

Conspiracy theories have always reigned supreme
A’Paul’ed by ruthless rumours – bizarre and so extreme
The 281F number plate made people speculate
Paul’s alive and kicking so don’t carry that weight

I swear I’m not the walrus and I hope you know my name
From me to you dear Billy Shears has launched our claim to fame
The blackbird sings here comes the sun so please don’t let me down
The rooftop show on Savile Rowe was a hit in town

Hey Jude … I cried out loud …I’ve just seen a face
All my loving in my life says life is not a race
When I saw her standing there, I begged her please please me
Good Day Sunshine… I feel fine now just act naturally

Ob Ladi Ob lada Eleanor Rigby’s here
I tried to serenade her with a sonnet from Shakespeare
But when I saw Michelle, I said I want to hold your hand
Sgt. Pepper’s coming with his lonely heart club band

The day tripper arrived late and created such a scene
And she rattled all her jewels like Her Majesty the Queen
From the Octopus’s garden I saw the taxman come
I call your name, but you tap dance to Starry Ringo’s drum

Honey Pie, please drive my car for I see John and Yoko
They’re in a yellow submarine heading to Orinoco
Perhaps they’re writing ballads here, there and every where
While Eric sang to Layla and George was unaware

You’ve got to hide your love away on a hard day’s night
Though in my hour of darkness I see a shining light
Norwegian woods are haunting like that magic mystery tour
She says she loves you – yeah yeah yeah - yet you’re insecure

And your bird can sing along even in the rain
This boy saw the inner light and rushed to Penny Lane
Lucy in the sky with diamonds was quite high
With a little help from friends I’m sure I will get by

A day in the life of dear Prudence hit the chart
Tomorrow never knows if there’s a devil in her heart
Something in the way she moves told me it was true
That I don’t care too much for money so love, love me do

Perhaps I’ll write a sermon – one I hope you’ll hear
The lonely people will agree there is no need to fear
Cause when the night is cloudy an answer there will be
With lyrics from the Beatles says Father McKenzie

So, dig it and let’s dance to a song your Mum should know
A skiffle song that was a hit a long, long time ago
I’ll email Desmond Jones and check if Molly played the fool
I wish I had a ticket to ride to Liverpool

God only knows that fields of Gold was magic to our ears
Like classics from the Beatles which brought screaming fans to tears
The fab four are forever as their music set us free
Let’s relive dreams on Matthew Street with joyous ecstasy

A hundred years from now you will whisper let it be
And wake up to the Beatles until eternity
For the Beatles are immortal and their music’s here to stay
And Beatlemania will never go away
