Mangalore: Urvashi Solanki - The 'Taare' Star All Set for Stardom

Urvashi Solanki. Does the name ring a bell? It may not.  This Gujarathi beauty, who is heroine of the soon to be released Kannada film “Taaare”, and also some soon to be released Hindi movies, is waiting for the release of her movies to set the screen on fire.  She was in Mangalore on a private-cum-business trip and spoke exclusively for daijiworld.    

Model turned actress Urvashi is all set take Bollywood and the Kannada film industry by storm with her stunning good looks and acting skills.  Her debut film “Dekho Zara” in the lead role and her second Hindi movie “Raftaar”, where she is in the second lead role are expected to hit the theatres soon.  Her Kannada movie “Taare” directed by Shivaraj Hoskere opposite Diganth has completed shooting and will be released within a month. “I play the role of a city girl falling in love with a village boy slowly giving him a peep into the urban life”, she chuckles explaining her Character. 


 


If everything goes right she will be the second import from Gujarath after Pooja Gandhi, to strike it big in Kannada film industry. As a preparation for the bigger and better things to come, Urvashi, her present name is soon going to be thing of the past as she going to have a new one soon on the advice of Chandrashekar Swamy of Mundkur, (who has provided vaastu for the newly built World Trade Centre of America).  “A change of name is going to do a lot of good to my career”, says the lass whose hobbies include Bungee Jumping, water sports, dancing and singing.  During her spare time she is concentrating on honing her acting and dancing skills.  “One learns a lot by experience and I feel it is necessary to keep learning something new everyday.  I go for my dance classes and try to improve my acting also”, she contends.  

This commerce graduate model-turned actress armed with a gritty determination is open to offers from the southern film industry “as the style of functioning is truly professional” she explains.  Starting her career with modeling she graduated to video albums, T V Serials and finally into the glamorous world of Bollywood.  She is a household name in Gujarth, where she plays the lead role of a queen in the very popular “Jai Dasha Maa” serial.  As an anchor she is presenting Crime Story in Z TV.  




She is a familiar face in print ads where she has lent her ethereal beauty and sophistication to products like Pantaloon, Kelvinator Washing Machine, Princy Bike, M V Jewellers and the list goes on.  She is also looking forward for the release of her Telugu Video Album of Baba Saigal.  She has also signed in by T Series for their video albums. 

Her entry into this glamorous but challenging world of film industry was by sheer fluke.  She started working in an ad agency where she realized she had the necessary talent and looks to make it big in the glamour industry and she wants to leave her imprints here making meaningful roles.   She is open to more roles in Kannada movies and is trying for a lead role in Ravichandran-directed movie.  

The success of Pooja Gandhi must have emboldened this beauty to try her luck down south.  Let us wish she succeeds in mesmerizing the hearts and minds of Kannada movie buffs that might give her more leverage in Bollywood.

  • All submissions should be in Microsoft Word format or text file. Pictures should not be larger than 1000 pixels in width, and of good resolution. Pictures should be attached separately in the mail and may be numbered if the author wants them to be placed in order.
  • Submission of the article / poem / short story does not automatically entail that it would be published. Daijiworld editors will examine each submission and decide on its acceptance/rejection purely based on merit.
  • Daijiworld reserves the right to edit the submission if necessary for grammar and spelling, without compromising on the author's tone and message.
  • Daijiworld reserves the right to reject submissions without prior notice. Mails/calls on the status of the submission will not be entertained. Contributors are requested to be patient.
  • The article / poem / short story should not be targeted directly or indirectly at any individual/group/community. Daijiworld will not assume responsibility for factual errors in the submission.
  • Once accepted, the article / poem / short story will be published as and when we have space. Publication may take up to four weeks from the date of submission of the write-up, depending on the number of submissions we receive. No author will be published twice in succession or twice within a fortnight.
  • Time-bound articles (example, on Mother's Day) should be sent at least a week in advance. Please specify the occasion as well as the date on which you would like it published while sending the write-up.
