Mangalore, Apr 28: Ibrahim (16), son of Usman from Patla, Kallapu near Tokkottu, lost his life after drowning in River Netravati near his home on Thursday April 27.

Ibrahim had been to the bank of River Netravali along with a boy living in the neighbourhood, to pick coconuts.  After picking coconuts for some time, the boys entered river water. Ibrahim, who had appeared for the SSLC examination this year, did not know how to swim. He drowned due to strong undercurrent, it is learnt.

Ibrahim used to assist his father in his juice shop. On Thursday, he had not visited the shop as the juicer had developed some problems. Instead, he accompanied his friend to the river bank, family sources said.

Ullal police sub-inspector, K R Manjunath, and other police personnel, visited the spot. After the body of the boy was recovered from the river, post mortem was conducted. A case was registered, and investigation was taken up.
