Bantwal, Aug 20: Depressed over his mother's ill health, a minor boy allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself at his residence in Nainadu of Pilatabettu village on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Ashok, a class 9 student at the Nainadu government high school.

According to sources, Ashok's mother had been suffering from an illness and was undergoing treatment at a hospital. As his father had passed away earlier, his mother was the primary support for the family.

The boy was reportedly deeply disturbed and mentally depressed due to her failing health. Ashok was the youngest of three sons.

A case has been registered by the Punjalkatte police in connection with the incident and further investigations are underway.
