Mangalore, May 1:  The newly built CSI Peter Memorial Church of Protestants, which has come up at Vamanjoor in the city, is set to be inaugurated and consecrated at 3 pm on Sunday May 1.

The protestant Christians living in Vamanjoor since the last about three decades had to visit the city for their spiritual needs. For their convenience, a separate assembly of Christians was formed, and the members used to offer prayers on the upper storey of Colaco Complex located opposite Provident Fund Complex.

For the new church, a site measuring 32 cents next to Vamanjoor primary health centre was bought. The work of pooling funds for the church began with a donation of Rs 15 lac, which was made by Dr K E Peters. With the help of the diocese and generous donors from the city and elsewhere, a new church has now been built, by spending nearly Rs 70 lac.
