Guv Bhardwaj Recommends Suspension of State Assembly

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, May 15: In a breaking news received from Bangalore by daijiworld, it has been informed that Karnataka state governor H R Bhardwaj has sent an important report to the central government through his envoy Tiwari to New Delhi.

Tiwari is schedule to leave for New Delhi by Sunday May 15 late evening flight.

It is gathered that the governor has recommended the suspension of state legislative assembly to the central government after the high drama in Delhi and Bangalore following the May 13 verdict when 11 BJP MLAs and 5 independent MLAs were reinstitued by the Supreme Court.

In the letter, the governor has stated that Yeddyurappa and speaker K G Bopaiah had manipulated the Constitutional provisions during the last trust vote, and therefore the support of the 10 BJP MLAs cannot be taken into consideration. Bhardwaj has also mentioned that there has been rampant corruption in the state.

It will be interesting to see how the central government responds to this issue.

Meanwhile, 10 out of 11 BJP MLAs who won the court battle have sent a letter to Bharadwaj pledging thier support to the government and to the leadership of CM Yeddyurappa. One BJP MLA Shankaralinge Gowda has not signed the letter and reportedly is still unhappy with the CM, but he is fighting for his cause staying within the BJP. But unconfirmed reports from CM sources say that the CM is now willing to include Shankalenge Gowda in his cabinet in his next ministry expansion.

Later in the evening, V Dhananjay Kumar, BJP spokesperson and state representative to centre, addressing a press conference said that he has submitted a letter of support from 10 BJP MLAs. He also confirmed that the governor has accepted the letter.

The governor allowed only 6 out of the 11 MLAs to meet him. There was chaos for sometimes outside the Raj Bhavan for denying an appointment with the governor for the rest of the MLAs.

Soon after the Raj Bhavan visit, all 10 MLAs along with some cabinet ministers left for the CM's residence to show their solidarity with B S Yeddyurappa's regime.

Hearing the news of the governor's letter to the centre, CM Yeddyurappa has countered the development by sending a letter to the President of India, Prime Minister and the home minister stating that everything is fine with the state government, and there is no political instability in the state. He has reportedly mentioned in the letter that out of the 224-member legislative assembly, he has the support of 127 MLAs. Yeddyurappa also announced that he would call an emergency meeting of his cabinet on Monday May 15 to review the situation.

All people are criticising the Governor.Do you have answer for a Assembly in power since 11 October 2010 without having the required numbers of MLA's.Do you know the SC judgment infavor of MLA's means it was illegal governemnt sinec 11 Oct, and all the business transacted by the state BJP can be nullified or challenged in SC.What is the assurance to the Governor by these 11 MLA's who first sent a letter to withdraw support and now letter showing support. Now you tell me what is the morale of these 11 people who change colors according to the wind.

The GURU,Mangalore,I appriciate and share your thought about GUV and it is what supposed to be.However the second part I have slight difference of opinion about the issue - Spaeker in conjuction with CM indulged in anti-constitutional activities which should be dealt with and is serious crime? That should made accountable. After hearing SC verdict,Speaker himself not available for comment nor offered to resign in first place! Then as a precedent CM must also tender his resignation. It is not mere stricture that the summery of judgement of SC was very very serious in which both Constitutional heads,CM and speaker undermines the very constitution of India. Therefore it is not the matter majority and minority but it is leagal and constitutional problem which may attract article 356.

    Hey guys stop giving Judgments.
Look at the sequence of events:
    1. 11th Oct. 2010 Speaker KG Bopaiah disqualified 16 MLA’s fearing fall of BJP Government.
    2. 13th May 2011 Supreme Court ruled speaker's decision was against the Constitution.
    3. This clearly states that B.S.Yeddurapp’s government from 11th Oct. 2010 onwards was illegal.
    4. Every one knows the sanctity of B.S.Yeddurappa and his Ministers.
    5. Speaker K G Bopaiah is guilty – What is his punishment?
    6. Who influenced the speaker’s decision – Should they be let off?
Governor H R Bhardwaj is simply going by the rule book and persons guilty need to be punished.

Had the 16 MLAs exercised the constitutional right to cast the
    votes at the Assembly, the
    current government might have
    been fallen apart earlier.

Now the same MLAs are totally
changed. Either they got a very
huge amount under the table to change the mind,
or they are mentally unstable to
    change the mind without any
    regard for the electorate of
    Karnataka.

    Perhaps, the Karnataka politics
under this CM is the most complicated in the history of
    Indian politics filled with total
    paradoxes and surprises. The
situation is going to get far
complicated in the days ahead, which is too terribly sad.

What stupidity is this..I don't like the BJP, but the governor is completely wrong, if Yeddy is looting, so be it, the people elected him, respect it even bye election he is winning. This kind of action only will give him a full majority, considering the fact that the opposition party is not so ethical either.

But again it depends how BJP may use this situation and take advantage like it did by playing JDS card in last assemble elections. If not BJP it may be advantage to JDS but as it is moree effective than congress as opposition but not congress.

If the Governor feels that the BJP government was not functioning according to the Constitution. HE IS ACTING WITHIN THE PURVIEW OF THE POWERS THAT ARE ALLOTED TO HIM! All you people criticizing the Governor are speaking as though you have enough proof that he is an Italian agent and other nonsense. Apparently, the BJP supporters are more obsessed with Italy, perhaps even more than Italians themselves.

The Governor Bhardwaj is trying his best from long time to suspend this BJP government in Karnataka at the behest of Congress Party at Delhi. Yes there was corruption cases against Yeddy and some of his minister, but it is not the first state government to have such corruption. There was corruption cases with other state governments also..but the governor's of that states didnt fight cat-dog like Bhardwaj. He should allow Yeddy government to work or to fall by itself. Congress thinks they will come back to power again...if elections are held after 6 months of President Rule. They will never get majority on thier own.

Corruption, drama, every six months members withdrawing support and then giving back support after being paid in crores, MLA's being bought and sold like cattle. When the government is about to lose majority then a shameless speaker disqualifies members so as to get an artificial majority. Opposition looking for ways to topple the government each day. The CM is busy trying to cling on to his chair than in administering. Visits to temples, pujas, prayers and donations to temples are his only pass time to retain his seat. THE STATE HAS GONE TO DOGS. Therefore a period of central rule and investigations into the corruption of the last 2 years might be a very good option and a relief to the people who are fed up of all this nonsense.

what tragic of a time for state political scenario. Scams after scams , scandal after scandals- a mountain of corruption, but this govt only gets stronger as the days go by.
gone are the days when this state was primarily known for its intellectuals, thinkers just to mention a few.
NOW UNFORTUNATELY ,our future generation will recognize this state for politicians like those shameless 14 crooks who even bought disrepute to our constitution & assembly by acting like wild animals during their revolt against their own govt & were also expelled from bjp for anti-party activity - are now jubilantly welcomed by the same party. just for the sake of more PLUNDERING OF WEALTH.
    ABSOLUTE SHAME .....
    but who cares.....
In fact its now a waste of time to comment on present state politics.
