Hassan, Jan 2: Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji, seer of Pejawar Math expressed regret that the anti-religious conversion and cow slaughter laws are not implemented effectively in the state.
Speaking to media, Swamiji said, “Governments bring laws from time to time according to the demands of public. However, these laws are not implemented effectively and just seem to be eye wash. Attempts should be made to implement them effectively.
“Though anti-religious conversion law is implemented religious conversions are taking place. Similarly, cow slaughter is going on in spite of anti-cow slaughter rule in action. As the violators do not have the fear of being punished, these laws have lost their values. Violators should be punished. So the government should pay special attention towards this matter.
“The emotions of Hindus are hurt due to cow slaughter as cattle are revered by Hindus. In addition, it also has adverse effect on dairy farming. Many families that depend on dairy farming for their livelihood are in dire straits. Due to religious conversions, friction is developed in many houses. There should not be any opportunity for such developments,” he said.
