Two youth killed in tragic scooter collision at Bethora

Ponda, Jul 11: In a heartbreaking incident, two youth lost their lives and two others were seriously injured when two scooters collided head-on at Bethora on Thursday afternoon.

The accident occurred around 2:30 pm on the Bethora-Bagal road. Isha Gawas (22) of Ravan-Sattari and Aditi Manjrekar (22) of Poriem-Sattari were riding one scooter, while Aditya Dessai (20) of Bethora-Ponda and Yogesh Patil (22) of Ponda were on the other.

All four were critically injured and rushed to the sub-district hospital in Ponda, where Isha and Aditya were declared dead. Aditi and Yogesh, both in serious condition, were later shifted to Goa Medical College (GMC) Hospital for further treatment.

Isha and Aditi were students at Shri Kamaxidevi Homeopathic Medical College in Shiroda. The duo had attended their farewell ceremony just a day earlier and were reportedly returning from the college after collecting documents when tragedy struck.

The accident has sent shockwaves through the communities of Ravan and Poriem. In Ravan, grief enveloped the village as news spread of Isha’s untimely demise. Locals recalled her as a bright student who had recently passed her medical exams with distinction. She is survived by her parents and a younger brother. Her final rites are scheduled for Friday.
