Udupi, Jan 9: The principal CJ and JMFC court has sentenced a bike rider to six months of imprisonment for causing an accident due to overspeeding and careless riding.
Deepraj Naik, the convict rode his bike recklessly and at overspeed from Kokkarne to Muddoor on May 28, 2018 and hit the vehicle Saku Poojarthi, a woman from behind who was walking on the road side.
Saku Poojarthi fell on to the road due to the accident and suffered severe injuries on her forehead and died without responding to treatment.
Hebri police station sub-inspector had registered a case in this connection and had submitted a chargesheet against Deepraj Naik in the court.
As Deepraj Naik's act was proven guilty, Deepa, the CJ and JMFC court judge sentenced Deepraj Naik to six months of simple imprisonment.
Senior public prosecutor Jayanti K argued in favour of the state.
