Jubail, Jun 4: A blood donation camp was organized by Global Toastmasters Club here at the luxurious Ibn Zahr beach camp, recently to emulate what is being talked on stage. Idealistic topics are often chosen by Toastmasters to speak on stage. And here there was a real opportunity to put words in to actions. Global Toastmasters Club, a noted club in Jubail, has in fact pioneered this kind of social activities for the benefit of Toastmasters fraternity to become responsible citizens.
 
The sergeant at Arms Ramaswamy called the ceremony to order  by pledging the Toastmaster ideals. The enthusiastic Mangalorean president of the club Shameer Ahmed welcomed the guests, hospital representatives and blood donors.

Abdullah Al Kumeidy, NIGC (GAS) industrial security manager was the chief guest on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Abdullah Al Kumeidy shared inspirational thought about blood donation. He thanked Shameer Ahmed and his team for organizing the event. An informative presentation on blood donation was also given by Dr Hamed El Torakey, the company doctor at GAS. Later, the president of Club invited P G R Nair, a veteran toastmaster of the area to share his thoughts on blood donation as he is a regular blood donor.

He shared some touching examples where the blood donation had come to the  rescue of needy people. He pleaded people to donate blood periodically as blood donation in fact reinvigorated people instead of weakening people as ignorantly perceived by many. Then he acknowledged the presence of club sponsor toastmaster Waheed Latheef.
 
Shameer Ahmed along with his family was first in the queue to lead by example. There were around 40 toastmasters who willingly donated the blood and showed example to the society.

The event was the first ever such out-of-the-box event conducted by toastmasters fraternity in Jubail. The blood donors and guests and enthusiasts who had gathered on the occasion appreciated the great work done by the Global Toastmasters Club under the leadership of Shameer Ahmed.  Breakfast, sumptuous lunch and delicious evening refreshment were served to all participants. The blood donors were encouraged by inspirational music and motivational displays idealizing the noble cause. The donors will be issued donor certificates along with blood group authentication by the hospital staff next week.
 
The blood donation camp was professionally assisted by medicos of Jubail General Hospital. As a token of appreciation, certificates were issued to these medical professionals.

National Industrial Gases Company - GAS (one of the SABIC Affiliates) management was thanked during the concluding ceremony. Dr Hamed El Torakey received the memento on behalf the management. Global Toastmasters Club provided the donors and participants with T-shirts and cap as token of appreciation. The president thanked executive members of Global Toastmasters Club with a special reference to GAS company for providing assistance in conducting the noble event.
