London, Jun 14: Australia skipper Pat Cummins delivered a stellar performance in the ICC World Test Championship final against South Africa, claiming six wickets on Day 2 to turn the match decisively in his team’s favour. His fiery spell not only rattled the Proteas but also brought up his 300th Test wicket, earning him a spot on the Lord’s honours board.
However, Day 2 wasn’t without drama. During an appeal for LBW against South Africa's Kyle Verreynne, Cummins unknowingly collided with the batter while both were mid-pitch. After the inswinger struck Verreynne on the pads, the South African ran for a quick single as Cummins turned to appeal, leading to an awkward bump and both players tumbling to the ground.

Though the on-field umpire turned down the LBW appeal, Cummins immediately opted for the DRS. Three reds confirmed the dismissal, adding another prized scalp to his name.
Cummins ended with impressive figures of 6-28, dismantling South Africa’s lower order as they lost their final five wickets for just 12 runs. Only captain Temba Bavuma (36) and David Bedingham (45) managed to put up any real resistance, stitching a 64-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
“He does it time and time again,” said fellow pacer Mitchell Starc. “To reach 300 wickets as captain in a big final like this is truly special.”
As play resumes on Day 3, Australia stand at 144/8, holding a solid lead of 218 runs over South Africa.
