Kundapur, Feb 7: “I have decided to resign for my position of panchayat membership due to administrative failure by Saligrama town panchayat, political enmity against Congress members and repeated interference in the development of the ward. Politics of hate prevails in Saligrama town panchayat at present and I am unable to answer the questions by the ward members. My ward is being neglected in all respects,” said Saligrama town panchayat member Ravindra Kamath.

He was speaking in the news conference at the Kota Congress office on Tuesday, February 7.

“I am representing the 13th ward. As much as Rs 15 crores have been received by Saligrama town panchayat under Nagarothana project of which Rs 15 lacs were sanctioned for my ward. Though the 363 metre long road was dug two months ago, the concretization has not begun. I am sad because people are questioning me and I am unable to answer them,” he said.

Kota block Congress president Shanker Kunder said that opposition members are being harassed by the president. “If hindrances like these continue towards the rights and duties of the elected representatives, Congress workers will protest in front of Saligrama town panchayat against the president,” he said.

Local committee president said that BJP has been in power at Saligrama town panchayat for the last 13 years but its contribution to the progress of Saligrama is zero. “Saligrama town panchayat could not achieve what other gram panchayats achieve in disposal of waste. Saligrama town panchayat is in the last spot in it,” he alleged.

Srinivas, Puneet Poojary, Dinesh and Ganesh K were present.
