Oman, Jun 20: The crew members of MV Suez had to abandon the ship on Sunday after it ran out of fuel. The ship was released by Somali pirates a week ago.
They got on to a Pakistani Navy destroyer PNS Babar, after the ship's captain Wasi Hassan requested Pakistan foreign ministry to allow them onboard and get them medical attention as many of them were ill.
The ship was left off on the Omani waters as it might have sunk any moment.
The crew members were released by the Somali pirates last week ending a ten-month captivity. Their ordeal is however far from ending as it is not yet certain as to when they would be returning home.
The ship was hijacked last year on August by Somali pirates on the Gulf of Aden. They held the crew ransom and released them only after being given $ 2.3 million.
