Bangalore: Government Decides to Return 1,400 Acres Notified for MSEZ

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Jun 27: Sources said that a high level meeting held at the residence of Chief Minister, Yeddyurappa, on Sunday June 26, decided to denotify around 1,400 acres of land locagted in villages around Mangalore, which was proposed to be used for the second phase of Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ).

This in affect indicates that the fight launched by the owners of this land under the leadership of Sri Vishweshwarateertha Swamiji of Pejavar Mutt will turn out to be successful. An order in this connection is expected to be issued soon.

It may be recalled that the affected persons had expressed their impatience at the government’s inaction in taking a decision in this connection early, although it had promised long back to do the needful. The Swamiji had also warned the government that he would undertake indefinite fast relating to this issue from July 13 onwards.

Senior leaders of the party including BJP state president, K S Eshwarappa, minister, Dr V S Acharya, and others, apart from some leaders of the Sangh Parivar had taken part in the discussions, it is learnt.

It is also gathered that the meeting decided to form a committee of experts on the ill-affects of the thermal power plant of Udupi Power Corporation Ltd near Padubidri. The committee will also conduct a detailed study about the adverse affects of the fly ash on the lives of the people around the plant. This was also one of the demands put forth by Pejavar Swamiji.

It's high time these swamijis stop meddling with the developmental activities. Perhaps they fear that people coming from outside to work in the industries will not be their devotees and they will not be in demand as before. If no industry comes to their fiefdom they can continue to hoodwink the people in the name of religion and God. May superstitions flourish unabatedly under these swamijis and dharmagurus and their chelas!

High quality talent pool!!! what a jkoke Mr. Diwakar. The talent pool in MRPL/MSEZ has come from other states. Don't forget locals had to protest for many days to get jobs. Only some greedy contractors will have to forget their dreams of making money

    Balanna, Dubai, Mangalore,

Please come to the place earmarked for SEZ and just observe the victims who gave the land to SEZ ignorantly. They don't know what is what. Virtually, they are on cross roads. I feel pity for them. As they are daily wage workers, they have become drunkards and their families are getting ruined. I wish somebody make a research on the socio economic problems of these victim families and highlight to the so called pro-development supporters.

Diwakar,Bangalore, I have only one sentence for you: Please give your residence and property to the govt for the development of our state.

Please don't insult Swamiji. He is not like many other Swamijis. He is truly a social activist for a good cause. LOng Live Swamiji.

Returning to Yeddy sons or the original farmers.. We have seen many false promises. Flood victims of Bagalkot and north karnataka are still living in unhumane condition. Though public gave donations exceeding 1000 crores a decent hut still not provided. What will happen to those who are dreaming job at MSEZ.. They have to be like Baba Peja.. with a half dress. Due to this old man entire project lost.

Entire region is now pushed to pre 1960 culture without development. With the high quality talent pool Mangalore can be best Industrial hub supported by commercial port provided if we keep away the Old babas and sadus from the politics

Thanks daijiworld for bringing this welcome news (did not find this in other papers!). It is a good move by state govt to respect the farmers demands, our country cannot progress if farmers and others are forced to give up their lands for industry and be reduced to poverty. Let the govt identify barren or unused
    land for the purpose.

I feel that you people don't have to bother for shine of Sanatha Dharma or Swamijies and others need any advice in the matter. Don't be jealous for Tons of gold or crores of rupees under their bed because anything received by them is not by virtue of luring the people for material gains or looting.

Whatever is theirs is voluntary gifts by devotees which is used for noble cause only. Please control your anguish Mr.Periera!!!

BSY under attack from all corners decided to backtrack some of the controversial land acquiring is a good sign of admin point of view. Here in this particular issue Pejavara seer's role might be instrumental.Anyway this decision might give new hope for farmers of other part of state who were agitating against acquirement of their fertile land in the name development.

The controversial 'land bank' project of Yeddy should be scrapped because it paves the way for corruptions and real estate 'Danda'In this effect taking the serious view of UP state's farmer's agitation on Maya's acquirement of fertile land in the name of development, Govt of India formulating unified rules and regulations in future acquirement of land by govts on the behest of Rahul Gandhi.Any way a sigh of relief for victims of Mangaloreans of MSEZ.
