Bengaluru, Mar 31: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai expressed confidence that the ruling BJP will get a clear majority in the assembly poll.
Speaking to reporters after visiting the Ghati Subramanya temple in Doddaballapur taluk of Bengaluru Rural district, Bommai claimed that many pre-poll surveys have indicated a tough fight in the elections but no opinion poll has suggested a Congress victory.
“There is still one and half months for the elections and during this time many changes might happen,’’ he said.
BJP list in a Week
The Chief Minister said the BJP has started the process of selection of candidates. "The BJP list will be released in a week,’’ he said.
“He Congress leader Siddarmiah has become desperate. In 2013, he had had declared that it will be his last election. But he contested again in 2018. Becoming a chief minister is not important by itself. What is important is what the person is capable of doing for the people. People had rejected him in 2018 and they will reject him this time too,’’ he predicted.
Sharply reacting to opposition’s charge that the government’s reservation policy is ‘election gimmick’, he said the Congress party did not do anything in 30 years because it had no commitment. They treat the people as vote banks.
“We have done what other parties could not do. Therefore, they are upset,’’ he said attacking the opposition for politicisng everything.
Bommai claimed that Siddaramaiah will face a tough fight in Varuna. People are in favour of B Y Vijayendra contesting from Varuna. Former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa will take a final decision after assessing the situation. But we will give a tough fight,’’ he declared.
