Noida, Sep 1: Connectivity between several sectors of Noida is set to improve with the Noida Authority approving the construction of a 500-metre-long flyover over the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.

The proposed flyover, estimated to cost around Rs 85 crore, will connect Sectors 148 and 150 and is expected to ease traffic congestion caused by the existing narrow underpass.

At present, commuters travelling between the sectors have to use an underpass beneath the expressway. The narrow passage often leads to traffic jams, particularly during peak hours. The underpass also gets waterlogged during the monsoon, causing further disruption to vehicular movement.

The new flyover will pass directly over the expressway, providing a smoother route between the sectors. The project is currently at the detailed project report (DPR) stage, and construction is expected to begin after the necessary approvals are completed.

The flyover is expected to improve connectivity across Sectors 148, 149, 150, 151, 152 and 153 and benefit more than two lakh residents living in the surrounding areas.

The project is also expected to support the development of the Sports City near Sector 150 and nearby residential projects. With development activity increasing in the area, traffic pressure is likely to rise, prompting the authority to strengthen road infrastructure.

Noida Authority General Manager AK Arora said the decision to construct the flyover was taken in view of the rapid development taking place in the area.

Meanwhile, the Noida Authority has also approved a revised layout for the Sports City and lifted the blanket ban on Sports City projects imposed in 2022. The move has raised hopes among around 20,000 homebuyers awaiting possession and registration of flats in long-delayed projects.
