Byndoor, Apr 8: The mortal remains of the student who was drowned while swimming at Koosalli Falls on Friday evening were found on Saturday April 8.

The deceased is identified as Chiranth Shetty (20), son of ASI Kumara Shetty, a resident of Koppa taluk of Chikkamagaluru district. He was studying in second B Com with an aviation course at a private college in Mangaluru.

As it was a holiday on Friday on account of Good Friday, Chiranth had gone to Byndoor along with his friends Keerthan Devadiga, Akshay Achari, Allwyn, Dharan and Reyan on Thursday itself. They all stayed overnight in the house of Akshay Achari. After having lunch in the house of Keertan Devadiga at around 3.30 pm, all the boys went to Koosalli Falls. As Chiranth was the only one who knew swimming, he got down into the falls, while others were seated on the bank of falls.

Chiranth disappeared in the water within a few minutes of getting down into the falls. Fire service personnel and locals searched for the mortal remains on Friday evening itself. Though they searched till night, they could not trace the body. On Saturday, the operation was continued and finally the mortal remains of Chiranth were found and are sent for post mortem.

A case in this connection is registered in Byndoor police station.

Dear Vishnu, First read the entire column before commenting. The other 3 friends did not know to swim for which they did not venture out to the water.
