Mangalore: 'Beary Community Should Support Cultural Events, Art'

Mangalore, Jul 4: The guests who were present at the launching of 'Tulunad Beary Kalapratishtana' Mangalore, a forum set up for striving to promote Beary language, cultural events and arts, urged the Beary community members in unison, to come forward to promote their language, art and culture.
The cultural forum was inaugurated in a unique manner by Ganesh Rao, founder of Karavali Group of Educational Institutions, Janab Abubakar N B, chairman of Karnataka State Minorities Development Corporation, and Walter Nandalike , editor-in-chief of daijiworld.com, by releasing three pigeons into the sky.
The event was held at Bantara Bavana,Surathkal, on July 3, 2011.
"Pigeons are the symbols of peace, and by releasing them by leaders from different communities, we have shown to the world our commitment to the cause of unity among humans," said Ganesh Rao, speaking after the inauguration. He felt that more and more Beary cultural programmes need to be organized in order to promote Beary language.
Janab Abubakar praised Ismail Moodushedde, founder of the newly launched Tulunad Beary Forum, for taking an initiative to write, direct and present plays in Beary language.
Walter Nandalike appreciated the fact that Bearys, spread over the entire world, have been making great efforts to promote their mother tongue. At the same time, he stressed that without promoting traditions and art of Beary community, it would be hard to achieve and sustain the growth of Beary language.
At the event, Azeez Bykampady of Kalaranga, Moidin Bawa, Congress leader and Mangalore United cricket team owner, were honoured for their contributions to Beary community.
Dharmadarshi Harikrishna Punaroor presided over the function and honoured Azeez Bykampady and Modin Bawa.
B M Mamtaz Ali, Mahabala Marla of Sanidhya, Anawar Ricko of Millat Co-operative Society, and Rajesh Kadri of Mangalore Mirror were present on the dais.
A Beary drama, written and directed by Ismail Moodushedde was presented after the felicitation.
Ismail Moodushedde earlier welcomed the gathering, and proposed vote of thanks at the end.
