Mangalore, Jul 6: Opposing the Communal Violence Bill, activists of the Hindu Janajagruthi Samithi (HJS) staged a protest in front of the DC’s office on Tuesday July 5.

Many women activists, leaders of HJS, Ramananda Gowda, Laxmeesha Gabladka, and Ramesh Nayak participated.

Addressing the protestors, Gowda said that the proposed bill aims at punishing all Hindus in all states. “Just an article or statement, against people belonging to a minority community is categorized as the offence of provoking rivalry against minority community people, and Hindus may get three years imprisonment or may have to pay a penalty as per the proposed bill,” he lamented.

“A national authority comprising four members belonging to the minority communities will be formed to safeguard the interest of minority people and they will be given the authority to rebuke Hindu unions. There is an undisclosed agenda behind this bill,” Gowda said.

By distributing pamphlets, organizing protest rallies and through signature campaign, the HJS is fighting against this move. HJS also organizing a nation wide protest against the bill.

On the same occasion, the government’s takeover of temples was also opposed by the protestors. They submitted a memorandum to additional DC Prabhakar Sharma addressed to the President of India.

Policies of this UPA make me laugh. Minority appeasement will only backfire on them as in the case of gujarat where whenever congress has targeted BJP on Godhra the sangh parivar has emerged stronger. Congress feels that the minorities will consolidate to bring them back to power but what they forget is Minorities have always voted for the congress irrespective of their policies for decades. It's actually the Hindu votes which are divided between the Congress & BJP and other regional parties like JD-S. So any such move will definitely lead to some shift of hindu votes from JDS & Congress to BJP.Congress instead of making POTA mandatory is bringing in foolish bills.

Sudhakar Pune, I appreciate your desire for uniting Indians irrespective of religion. The Bill is not for majority. It is applicable for every community, whoever indulge in communal violence. Then, why only one community is opposing it ? Doesn't it proves that some people do not want unity and communal harmony ? If I am not doing any wrong, why should I be afraid of any Bill or any law ?

Some social elements (which include all religion, gender etc) are taking advantage of week judicial system and get away with what ever they do. Crime is crime, and this kind of bill will not build confidence in anyone, this will only divide communal harmony, we need a strong judicial reform which will strengthen the system and not let any criminal get away very easily. There is no initiative in any party to get the strong bill all they do is vote bank politics.

Sudhakar Pune, the law is applicable for all.Whoever disturbs and indulge, abate and support communal violence, be it minorities or majorities. Some body or org clean in it's principle and activities there should not be fear or worry. The worrying factor is for those who divides the society in the name religion, race, caste and creed. We Indians should take an oath not to indulge in any communal violence or anti- social activities which may hinder ONE INDIA.

It is a clear that UPA II has gone mad after exposure of so many mega scams under the rule of puppet MMS and surprisingly enjoyes the 'clean'image.
Now to mislead the nation the Communal Voilence Bill is going to be put in public domain and to get ready to face 2014 general election by deviding thee nation on communal lines and create a mega minority vote bank.
It has totally forgotten that this initiative will create another Ayodya movment and the country will be in turmoil giving tooth to Hindu forces to come in streets.Action will consolidate Hindu forces but only pray no life should be lost in the battle.
