Mangalore, Jul 7:
Commuters passing the Netravati bridge and surrounding areas in Ullal were stranded for nearly three hours here on Thursday July 7, thanks to punctured tyres of a lorry.

The lorry, carrying laterite stones came to a stop in the middle of the bridge when both its rear tyres got punctured. As there was only one spare tyre, it took a long time to get a new one and replace.

The gridlock lasted from around 3 pm to 6 pm, and the worst hit were children who were on the way back from schools. School vans, buses and autos had to struggle through the traffic which moved at a snail's pace. Some of them were even seen alighting and choosing to cross the bridge on foot!

Traffic from Yekkur to Kolya was affected. It took the police quite an effort to clear the jam and restore the smooth flow of traffic.

The tyres of the lorry were finally replaced and the vehicle was soon on its way.

In all of this, perhaps the most worried were parents of the schoolchildren who took hours to reach home.

There should be "Vehicle Inspection and Registration System" on yearly basis. Once the vehicle is certified then the Vehicle Registration should be renewed like what it is doing in Gulf countries. By this system atleast for the sake of "Renewal of Vehicle Registration" the owner will his vehicle, henceforth this kind of nuisance can be avoided.

We can get some camels from KSA.
They do not have any tyres to deflate at all. More over any accident haevy fines and severe punishment.
What an idea our problem is solved once and for all.

a lesson to the guys opposing widening of roads. comparing karnataka with goa, where the vehicle density is less is sheer foolishness. such things are more prone to happen given the increasing density of vehicles.

Fine the truck owner with a huge amount money for putting all the public, children specially, and the busy high-way users precious time for three hours and next to remember that the owner will supply the truck with proper healthy tyres to take enough load.
