Udupi: Sudeep Sudhakar - Only Indian Chosen for Australian Air Force

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jul 11: A youth, who grew up in Manipal, has made his state and country proud, by being chosen to serve Royal Australian Air Force. The fact that he is the only Indian to be picked up for this coveted post makes his feat all the more laudable.

This time around, 92 persons were selected for the Australian Air Force. Sudeep Sudhakar, a shy and down-to-earth boy, who was hesitant in the initial stages even to apply for the post, has succeeded in bagging this dream job. Sudeep, now 26, is the son of U Sudhakar Salian, extension counter officer of T A Pai Management Institute in Manipal, and Yashwanti S Salian, professor in the department of commerce, MGM College here.

After living nearly four years in Australia during which he completed post-graduate degree in product development and computational fluid dynamics from Deacon University there, Sudeep had decided to become an Australian resident.

Sudeep completed his early education in Madhava Kripa School in Manipal, before completing pre university education in MGM PU College, and getting his bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from National Institute of Enginering, Mysore. He then went to Australia to pursue further education. Sudeep was good in extra curricular activities during his school days, and was actively participating in athletics, swimming, shuttle badminton, basket ball, and such other sports activities. When in SSLC, he had won the President’s medal for scout activities. He had represented Vishweshwaraya Technological University in south India level badminton tournament.

He had begun working as a design engineer in Australia. After five rounds of interviews, he was appointed as the flying officer in the aerospace engineering department of Royal Australian Air Force.

We have pilots with fake liciences to fly The Indian Carriers(Commercial & Defence). Mr. Sudeep might be having a genuine licience and certificate awarded by the Cheif of Aussie Defence Shrimaan Angus Hustonjee.

Alwyn - Canada: Good comments. That`s precisely one of the reasons I decided to migrate to Australia. I simply could not find lakhs of rupees either to give donation or bribe the authorities to get my two boys admission to medicine or the engineering, even though they were quite bright and intelligent, and that`s what they have done into their new country, merely by working hard and obtaining good marks.

I agree with Mr ISMAIL K PERINJE, This is not a great achievement to be a part of Australian Airforce. Engineers need India to do their basic educaction and then they fly abroad in the name of higer education and they never go back to give back to their nation. Because they never want to return there. They have big mouth to speak about India and say how much they love their country. I would have wished this guy if was representing from Indian Airforce to help Australian Airforce but he is no more an Indian Citizen. Another thing Deakin university is not a great university or great place to study. Jai ho India

Why not serve our own Indian Airforce than Australian Airforce?
In India one has to struggle for admision to get into Engineering or doctors colleges whereas western countries you dream for it and work hard to reach those goals and you will succeed. That is the beautify of western nations. Religions later first human ways of living with equal opportunities.

Mr Chesteshwar.N.Sidney,The gentleman Mr Dexter,Mangalore is absolutely correct. What you said about Ahmed and Sudhakar is toooooooooooooooo much 'Parak'.He did Engg here and went for a higher study! India lost every thing including money,talent.......But for Ahmed and me simply came here for earning bread where as S. Sudhakar not.An Engg or Doc never stay unemployed for long time in India if he is willing to work.

    Harry & Justin,

It all depends on the country's rules. I work in the Government sector in USA and been there for over a decade.

BUT I still hold my Indian Citizenship and NOT given it up for the last two decades.

I am a permanent resdient for last two decades. As long you have the right to work, You are entitled to work in the government, Army etc. except in Foreign servcies or secret services.

There is no difference between a citizen or permanet resident except you cannot vote and best of all you do not have to do jury duty,if required!!

Mr. Cheteshwar N, SydneyMr. For your kind information Mr. Ahmed, Mangalore / Doha is not a citizen of Doha, but a resident of Doha. Many Indians who are unable to get jobs are working in the Middle East in Resident Visa.

I do agree with Ahmed, why not serving his motherland where he grew up for 22 yrs.

We wish Sudeep good luck in his future.

Congratulations Sudeep. I remember few months ago there was a furore in India caused by some pseudos & jobless groups saying Indians are being attacked in Australia. In Karwar one group formed by jobless and senseless members even tried to attack Christian worship places due to the incidents in Australia. Now these Pseudos should know that though

Sudeep is a non-christian he has been choosen for Australian Air Force but was not chosen in India and he has given up his Indian nationality voluntarily. Now, you pseudos, pls. correct your brainless heads always to judge a person on merits and not on his religion. Unless you correct your way of thinking, Indian talents will be utilized by other countries and our progress will remain on stupid politicians tongues only. Good luck Mr. Sudeep and congratulations to your parents as well.

    Ahmed, what a question!! waw!!!

Why you left India for Doha ???

You could have served in India for your country ??

For the same reason, Sudhakar had  left and joined the Australian force.
Do not show fingers to others and do not question others, when you yourself is not rigt !!

There are many Indians (now naturalized Australian citizens) in Australian Airforce at all levels (officers, pilots, Airforce medicine) including many Mangaloreans.

There is a long history of Indians in Australian Aiforce (British influence).

Congrats to this young man on Airforce commissioning but I just wanted to clarify.

Great decision by Australian Air Force. Many indians are part of the US and UK armed forces. It's time for Indian Armed Forces to recruit US, UK and Australian Nationals.
