Bantwal, May 16: The summer heat this year has been unforgiving, causing water scarcity in the region. With rivers and other water bodies drying up, people are struggling to find enough drinking water.
The residents of Uppira in the Nadugodu village of Eliya taluk are also facing a severe water crisis. However, entrepreneur and agriculturist Raghavendra Bhat from Hokkadigoli has been coming to their aid by supplying water to their homes using his own vehicle for several days now, out of sheer humanitarian concern.
The local panchayat was unable to arrange alternative water sources for the residents, as the borewells drilled by the panchayat have run dry. Taking matters into his own hands, Raghavendra Bhat, a respected farmer and immediate past president of the Rotary Club Loretto Hills, has taken up the role of a Good Samaritan by providing water from the borewell at his own house to the residents of Uppira. He personally bears the cost of the vehicle and staff needed to deliver the water.
It is truly remarkable and commendable that Bhat has taken on a responsibility that should ideally be fulfilled by public representatives. This is not the first time he has extended his help to the people of Uppira during a water scarcity situation. Bhat is well-known for his dedication to serving the community and his pro-people initiatives.
