Beltangady, May 30: Paresh Kishanlal Agarwal (25), a software engineer employed in Bengaluru and native of Nagpur in Maharashtra, who had arrived for trekking in the forest of Charmadi and went missing, was traced by a local team of youths and brought out of the forest safely.

The techie, who was trekking from Ranizari of Moodigere taluk reached Bandaje Falls on Sunday evening. He lost his track as sun set for the day. He shared his location to his colleague in Bengaluru. He called police control room and also shared the information on WhatsApp groups. Hanif, who owns a hotel at Charmadi also came to know the matter through WhatsApp message and he sent the same to his friends at Charmadi.

A team of police, forest department personnel local youths consisting of Mubashir, Ashraf, Shamsu, Nasir, Sudhir, Janardhana, Shashidhar, Asif and ambulance driver Jaleel went in search of Paresh.

Two teams were made and the search operation began at 5 pm on Sunday. Paresh was located at Bandaje rivulet vicinity at around midnight. It is said that the techie was exhausted due to hunger, fear and tiredness. After offering him food and water he was brought to Kajoor at 4.30 am. There was no proper network in the area where the youth was stuck.

The trekker was given first aid and brought to Beltangady police station. Information was relayed onto this parents and friends. He was taken to the resort where he had taken a room. Later he was handed over to Balupete police.

The techie had entered the prohibited area through Rani Zari. The teams had to walk for more than 10 km on rough terrain to locate him.
