Mangaluru, May 30: After Chief minister Siddaramaiah reinstated slain BJP youth leader Praveen Nettaru's wife Nuthana Kumari in her job hours after she was terminated due to a change of guard in government, three family members of slain Muslim youths in Dakshina Kannada have demanded the government to give them proper compensation and employment.

The family members of Muslim youths who were slain over communal enmity demanded that though the youths were murdered due to communal enmity, the previous BJP government had discriminated against them without giving them proper compensation. As the government has provided employment opportunities to Praveen Nettaru's wife, the government equally should provide employment to the family members of their families too, the Muslims youths demanded.

Masood, Kalenja in Bellare, Mohammed Fazil, Mangalapete in Surathkal and Abdul Jaleel of Katipalla were murdered last year.

One week before the murder of Praveen Nettaru (July 26, 2022), on July 19, Masood was attacked in Kalenja. He succumbed to injuries on July 21. Then, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai had visited Praveen Nettaru's residence on July 28.On the same day Mohammed Fazil was brutally attacked in Surathkal.

Abdul Jaleel was hacked to death in Krishnapura, Katipalla in Surathkal on December 24, 2022.

Speaking to a Kannada daily, Fazil's mother Saramma said, "No mother should suffer like me after losing a grown up son. Political representatives of the previous government did not visit our home to console us. They did not award us any compensation. Praveen Nettaru's wife was given a job. Though our family is in difficulty, we were neglected."

"The present government should provide us justice. It should provide compensation even to our family besides government jobs to any one in our family," she said.

Umar Farook, father of Fazil said, "Fazil was murdered to avenge the death of Praveen Nettaru. I am waiting to get justice for my son's death."

"I am a lorry driver. I have been working very hard and I have given education to my children. On the next day of Fazil's murder my other son had to leave for abroad. Due to the death, he had to stay back. I welcome the government’s decision to award compensation to Praveen Nettaru's family and employment opportunity to his wife. But, everyone should get equal justice," he said.
