Kundapur, Jun 14: The sit-in protest led by Udupi district Korga associations and the Karnataka Adivasi Rights Coordination Committee's district organizing committee, seeking the implementation of the Mohammad Peer report, was called off following the district administration's assurance to look into the matter.

In-charge sub-divisional officer Shobhalakshmi, who was requested by the deputy commissioner to visit the site, arrived at the sit-in satyagraha location on his behalf and engaged in talks with the protestors.

A special meeting regarding the land rights of the Koraga communities under the Nada Gram Panchayat was scheduled for July 5 at 11 am in the deputy commissioner's office hall, chaired by the DC himself. The deputy commissioner provided a written assurance that the demands would be addressed.

Udupi district coordinator of the Karnataka Adivasi Rights Coordination Committee, Sridhara Nada, stated that in light of the deputy commissioner's commitment, the protest has been temporarily suspended until July 5.
