Mangaluru, Jun 15: Indian National Center for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) declared high wave alert in coastal Karnataka region in wake of Biparjoy cyclone making landfall at Gujarat coast.
According to the report given by INCOIS the height of sea waves will be between three to four meters due to Biparjoy cyclone. Fishermen are also advised not to venture into sea as well as public not to get down into the sea beach areas till June 19.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department there will be heavy rains in the next four days. Yellow alert is declared till June 17.
Mangaluru city area had good showers. Moderate rains were experienced at Dharmasthala, Uppinangady and Puttur. In rest of DK, the rains were sporadic.
On June 15, most of the area of coastal region will have cloudy weather. Plateau region of Western Ghats will have heavy rains. From June 17-18, monsoon will intensify in coastal and south interior regions of Karnataka.
Puttur received highest rainfall on Wednesday which measured 28 mm. Kollur had minimum of 1.2mm rain.
