Mangaluru: Parents, vehicle owners to be held liable for road accidents by minors – Police chief

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru, Jul 1: Police commissioner Kuldeep Jain said, “Parents or the vehicle owner will be held responsible and booked if minors violate traffic rules or in case of injury in an accident.”

Recently, two minors lost their lives riding a two-wheeler at Maryhill. Several questions were raised after the incident on how minors ride two-wheelers on busy roads without license and whom can be held responsible for the incident, parents or the minors.

On the wake of this incident, the police commissioner took up the initiative of holding a counselling programme for the parents of minor vehicle riders and drivers.

Police officers will be present at all traffic police stations for counselling sessions.

On July 2, a counselling session will be held from 12 pm to 1 pm at traffic south police station, Jeppinamogaru.

Good Intiative but I feel along with counselling there are things minors as well has citizens should follow. Mangalore is a beautiful City but nobody follows traffic rules. All of us go on the road like uneducated senseless people. It’s like once you start your car you feel you will stop your engine only at your destination. There are no zebra crossing for pedestrians. For school going children near schools there should be zebra crossing and everyone who is driving should be cautious while they drive near schools, hospitals. If you see we don’t have any speed limit on the main road not on highway. It’s is ridiculous to see that this city is called SMART CITY. How many of us have travelled or lived abroad. Don’t you see how traffic rules have been maintained.. speed limit should be followed in inside lanes. We live in a mordern society but our rules and regulations are still like olden days.

Is that all the police can conclude regards traffic woes ? Reminds us of someone telling fairy tales and enjoying time pass. Keep blaming children for the faults of adults. How nice ! Commercial vehicle operators are involved in rash and intimidatory driving, MCC constantly doing roadworks like its an industry and causing traffic snarls, leaving the worksite hazardous to passersby, roadside businesses occupying footpaths..... the list is endless. Why target children.
