Mangaluru: Two men with swords on train at Tokur – Not robbers, but coconut pluckers fighting

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Jul 2: The railway police have clarified that the incident of sword-wielding on the Dadar-Tirunalveli train at Tokur railway station on Friday was not an attempted robbery but a brawl between two coconut pluckers.

The arrested individuals in connection with the incident are Jayaprabha (28) and Prasad (23), both natives of Tamil Nadu. They had recently returned from Goa after working as coconut pluckers for two to three months. In an intoxicated state, the two got into a heated argument, which escalated into a physical fight.

When the train arrived at Tokur, they stood up from their seats and brandished machetes at each other, causing damage to the window panes and seat covers.

Passengers who witnessed the altercation mistakenly assumed it to be a robbery and promptly alerted the railway police. After apprehending the suspects, the police conducted an interrogation, during which the true nature of the incident came to light.
