Bantwal, Jul 4: Rainfall continued to lash the taluk unabated on Tuesday causing widespread loss and damage at some places.

Mud caved in near a school at Gadiyara. As work on the border wall was started, more danger was averted.

Wall of the house that belonged to Tumbe village resident Padmanabha collapsed damaging the cowshed. A tree fell at the cultivation of Kodandoor Jayarama Naika, Kepu village damaging areca nut trees.

The hill caved in at Otepadpu, Manila village, damaging the shed of Narayana Naika. The sheet of roof of the toilet of Sainaz at Sajipadmooda was also reported damaged.

Border wall work begins

The school and the electric tower near Gadiyara school, where the four-lane highway work is in progress were about to collapse as roadside mud caved in on Monday.

The officials who visited the spot held an emergency meeting with the contractors, school development committee and villagers. The work on the wall has begun at their behest.

    All these damages can be prevented previously before rainy season starts.For example grown up trees leaning to house top ,should be cut .Not when damage is there ,Danger to human life.Building houses or school buildings so near the walls is not a good idea,
