Mangaluru, Jul 5: In a concerning incident exacerbated by the incessant rain pounding the city for the past few days, a 16-feet compound wall near Unity Hospital in Falnir collapsed on Wednesday, July 5 evening, resulting in a motorbike being trapped under the rubble.

The heavy rainfall, which has been persisting in the city, is suspected to have played a significant role in weakening the compound wall structure. The continuous downpour has saturated the soil, increasing the vulnerability of such structures to collapse.

Witnesses at the scene were startled as the compound wall suddenly gave way, burying a motorbike beneath the debris. However,no casualties have been reported so far.

The incident has raised concerns about the structural integrity of compound walls across the city, highlighting the need for regular maintenance and safety inspections. It serves as a reminder of the importance of proactive measures to prevent such incidents during periods of heavy rainfall.

Further details regarding the incident are awaited.
