Bengaluru woman techie murder: Police crack case, arrest boyfriend from Delhi

Bengaluru, Jul 5 (IANS): Bengaluru police have solved the case of a woman software professional's murder with the arrest of her boyfriend from New Delhi who managed to give them the slip for over 20 days as he traversed all over the country.

The arrested person was identified as Arpit Gujral and the victim was named Akanksha.

Police said that both were in a live-in relationship and lived at her flat here.

Gujral had told the police that he killed Arpita as she broke up with him and that he didn't want anyone to get her.

He had come to Bengaluru on the pretext of meeting Akanksha for the last time on June 6, had smothered her to death with a pillow at her flat, and escaped from the spot.

Gujral had meticulously planned the murder to elude the police. He had left his mobile at New Delhi while coming to Bengaluru and brought 7 to 8 sets of clothes and Rs 5,000 cash from home.

He had first gone to Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh and kept his clothes there and then had come to Bengaluru. Having done his home work, he knew that he could be caught by the police if he reached the apartment in a vehicle, he walked to it, keeping his face concealed.

After committing the murder, he had hidden somewhere and left it only after the incident came to light after one of the friends of Akanksha visited the flat and informed the matter to the management.

The accused had then walked for eight km to the railway station and reached Hyderabad. From there, he had boarded a train and tried to contact his friends. When his attempts to get help from friends failed, he went to Assam where he worked as a daily wage labourer and vegetable vendor to earn money.

Later, he came to Vijayawada and took shelter in one of his friend's motor driving school office building. The friend had called the accused's mother to inform her about him and police got clues about his whereabouts after this and arrested him.

The accused had been sent to judicial custody.

Traditional marriage after due and diligent research into background of the girl/woman and the boy/man to be married, was, is and will be the best option always. Our ancestors knew all about this. Don't learn how to live your life from magazines, blogs, novels, movies, serials...TRADITION IS BEST!

Right. The word consensual has no meaning for intolerant, impatient and narrow minded people of this country. People in our country are very much fond of imitating the west and finally blame them when things go wrong. Though we have advanced in education, Indian mindset is still immature for acts like being in a relationship or live in relationship, extramarital affairs, etc. which are looked down upon as taboo in the society and has resulted in crimes ranging from blackmailing and extortion to murders and honour killings. Such kind of relationships has become death traps in our country and best thing is to avoid them.

Costs of live in relationship arrangements.... that too in a well educated society. Sad that the young aspiring life is lost and now only her parents has to suffer. God knows what they have gone through to bring her up and educate her.

This is the sad story of so called live-in relationship. In most crime cases this is the final outcome. Why do parents and todays generation do no understand the value of marital life. What guarantee they do have from this live-in partnership? no family, no values. This is like living like animals and not in relationship. There should be strong law to avoid this kind of live in partnership life. No religion has this as way of living. Moreover now a days there are MNCs that are giving some kind of benefits to the live-in partner which boosts this kind of lifestyle. People needs to be educated on these rather than speaking on the religion and minority majority issues. First stop this kind of immoral life style from our beautiful country.
