Indian team leaves for World junior tennis finals

New Delhi, July 29 (IANS) A four-member Indian team Friday left for Prostejov, Czech Republic, to participate in the World Junior Tennis Championships finals Aug 1-7.

The All India Tennis Association (AITA) has retained the team which secured a third place in the Asia-Oceania zone at Kuching, Malaysia, to qualify for the world finals.

The team comprising Sumit Nagal, Sahil Deshmukh and Garvit Batra would be headed by the non-playing captain Sunil Yajaman.

"We are pleased to announce the team for the this event and are hopeful that they would perform well in the World finals," AITA secretary-general Anil Khanna said in a statement.

"Sahil Deshmukh is already in Europe with the ITF Under-14 team and is well prepared. The Indian under-14 team had secured a third place in the world finals at the same venue during 2008 and though this is a tough event, we are hopeful the team would do well."
