Bahrain to Host Eighth World Kannada Cultural Convention from Sep 29 to 30

Mangalore, Aug 2: The eighth World Kannada Cultural Convention will be held in Bahrain this year on September 29-30, said president of Bahrain Kannada Sangha president Raj Kumar at press meet here on Tuesday August 2.

The event will be held under the aegis of Mangalore-based Hrudayavahini Kannada magazine and Kannada Sangha of Bahrain. This is the second time the World Kannada Convention is being hosted by Bahrain Kannada Sangha.

The Convention aims at promoting Kannada, its distinct traditions, culture and art. It will provide a platform to strengthen Kannada and its cultural heritage among the children of NRIs working in the Gulf countries, besides cultural exchange with the native artistes. 

There will be sessions on poetry, humour, media, medicine and also an NRI meet. Bharatanatyam dance recital, Yakshagana and a musical concert will be held as part of the cultural programmes.

B S Yeddyurappa, who is now the caretake chief minister of Karnataka and union minister of external affairs S M Krishna, both state and union ministers will be present during the inaugural ceremony on September 29 afternoon.

During the valedictory ceremony, seven Kannadiga achievers from Karnataka and seven from outside the state or abroad will be honoured with the title 'Vishwa Manyaru-2011'.

Nearly 150 artistes, litterateurs and resource persons will participate in the Convention.

A mega musical concert of sandalwood stars will be held on September 30.

The office-bearers of Kannada Sanghas in other Gulf countries will also attend the programme.

 

                                            
Nagatihalli Chandrashekar to Chair 8th All India Kannada Cultural Convention in Mumbai

Nagatihalli Chandrashekar, renowned Kannada litterateur, Sandalwood movie director and producer, columnist, and novelist, was chosen as chairperson of the 8th All India Kannada Cultural Convention which will be held at Billava Bhavan, Santa Cruz (East), from Saturday August 6 to Sunday August 7. 

The convention will be organized by metro-based Kannada Sangh and Mangalore-based Kannada magazine ‘Hrudaya Vahini’ under the joint auspices of the Karnataka state Kannada and culture department and Kannada Border Area Development Authority, stated the media release issued by Karnataka Kannada Sahitya Academy.

Chandrashekar is a recipient of the ‘Filmfare Award’ and also many national and international awards in recognition of his successful movies.  He is also a playwright and scriptwriter for dramas and movies.  He was involved in social welfare activities by opening a library at his native village, besides promoting simple weddings and inter-caste marriages by forming a Yuvak Sangh, and thereby striving for equality in society.

    All the best to 'Kannada Sangha - Bahrain' Hostiing a Eighth World Kannda Cultural Convention' will be a one more milestone in your History. But don't invite and involve the Politicians....specially if they are involved in corruption..because they are very dangerous for the future of our society...!!!???
