Mangaluru: CCB police arrest drug peddler selling MDMA

Mangaluru, Sep 13: In their ongoing campaign to combat drug-related issues in Mangaluru, the CCB police have taken a significant step by apprehending an individual involved in the illegal sale of banned MDMA drugs to both residents and students in the city.

Acting on credible information that a person on a two-wheeler was in possession of MDMA drugs and distributing them in the vicinity of Ullal Ombathukere, the police conducted a successful raid resulting in the arrest of Abdul Sawaz, also known as Chawwa (30). Sawaz, a resident of Mukkacheri, Ullal, and currently residing in Mastikatte, near the junction in Ullal, was taken into custody.

During the operation, law enforcement confiscated 25 grams of MDMA drugs with an estimated value of Rs 1,25,000, a Honda Activa scooter, a mobile phone, Rs 2,120 in cash, and a digital weighing scale from the accused. The total worth of the seized items amounts to approximately Rs 2,17,000. A case has been registered against the accused at the Ullal police station, with ongoing investigations into the involvement of several others within the drug peddling network.

The successful operation was carried out by the CCB police unit officers and staff, under the guidance of Mangaluru police commissioner Anupam Agarwal.
