Mangaluru, Sep 14: The inauguration of student council, association and UGC career oriented courses for the academic year 2023-24 was held on Thursday, September 14.
The programme began with a prayer service, led by college choir. Geetha Kulkarni, ACP traffic sub-division Mangaluru was the chief guest and inaugurator of the programme. Sabrina Hougaard, management member of Milagres PU college, was the guest of honour correspondent of Milagres Educational Institution and Fr Bonaventure Nazareth presided over the function.
The chief guest in her message said, "Leadership and Excellence is a part of the journey of a student's life. Every student needs to have a vision and mission and strive towards excellence in order to become ambassadors of the institution. As leaders there is need to be a balance between students and faculty in order to have a vigorous and healthy atmosphere." She also encouraged students to say 'No to Drugs'.
Dignitaries inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Principal administered the oath to the college president Denson DSilva and the other office-bearers of the student council.
UGC career oriented and association were formally inaugurated by the chief guests.
The correspondent in his presidential message emphasised that "Leader is the one who serves and should not only be representatives who live up to the faith and trust laid on them but also should be the channel who will be a bridge between the management and student community and serve the
community in a better manner."
Fr Michael Santhumayor, principal, welcomed the dignitaries and introduced the chief guests. Faculty member Chaitra D proposed a vote of thanks. The programme was compered by student representative Akansha from III FND.
The NSS volunteers enacted an anti-drug awareness play.
